Is This Anything To Be Concerned About Multiple Bouts Of Strep Throat And Tonsillitis After Like 10 Or 12 Years?
Question: Hi I am a 24 year old male. When I was younger like 9-12 I had multiple bouts of strep throat and tonsillitis. I had my tonsils removed. I had a lymph node on the side of my neck come up that you could see if i turned my head one way. I went to the doctor and he felt it and said it moved and felt soft. It has stayed that way for years and I can no longer see it but sometimes if I feel my neck I can still feel where it is. Is this anything to be concerned about after like 10 or 12 years?
Brief Answer:
Hi kindly read below
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have read your query and understood your concern.
The lymph node swelling and pain in the neck occurs incase any infection in the head and neck region. As you mentioned the initial swelling was due to the tonsillitis. However, considering no symptoms at present and only palpable while touching it does not cause any alarm. Incase pain and the swelling increases in size you could get it checked by the doctor and biopsy can be taken to find out the status of swelling.
Kindly reach out incase further queries.
Regards.

So it is not unusual for one to remain slightly enlarged for years after an infection? And since it had not increased in size there is no need for concern correct?
Brief Answer:
Hi kindly read below
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
It is normal for a lymphnode to remain swollen which is soft and movable for years after infection and during any active infection the size may increase a little and cause pain.
