Is This Normal Or Do I Need To Be Concerned I Have A Large Mass Almost That Appears Above My Tonsil?
Question: I have a large mass almost that appears above my tonsil. Almost appears as though my right tonsil is swollen, but this appears to be connected to the anterior or posterior tonsillar pillar. It doesn’t hurt at all and it has holes/crypts in it. I recently removed a tonsil stone from 2 of these crypts. I believe it has been like this for a long time now and I’m starting to get worried. Is this normal or do I need to be concerned?

Hii. Welcome to the healthcare services. It seems that you are having acute
Detailed Answer:
Hii. Welcome to the healthcare services. It seems that you are having acute tonsillitis along with tonsillar stone. Tonsil has lots of crypts which can stuck tonsillar stone. So start an antibiotic tab augmentin 1 gm twice daily for 1 week. Take betadine gargle twice daily. You can take alternately warm saline gargle. Drink more water. Review after 2 week. Take a good picture and post it. If it is still not resolving then you have to consult an Ent surgeon. Please review if you have any queries.

Hi,
Thank you for your response. I have attached pictures in the reports section. I would be surprised if this was tonsillitis as I have had this growth/mass for a while now and do not have any other symptoms of tonsillitis. I no longer have any tonsil stones, as I managed to get them out with a saline gargle but the pronounced bulge still appears to be there. I have no other symptoms besides very slightly swollen lymph nodes on the same side in my neck (have to push on my neck to feel them). The growth/swollen mass I am worried about appears to be coming from the posterior tonsillar pillar. Could this be something like extra lymphatic tissue or a tonsillar remnant?
While I havent been officially diagnosed there is a chance I have GERD as I have all the symptoms for it and a family history. Could this be causing the swelling? I am going to book a doctors' appointment in early May.
Please let me know if you have any further ideas as to what this could be.
Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Hii. It can be enlarged tonsillar tissue or lymphoid follicles or enlarged
Detailed Answer:
Hii. It can be enlarged tonsillar tissue or lymphoid follicles or enlarged posterior tonsillar pillar. GERD can cause granular posterior pharyngeal wall. It can be enlarged adenoids. So you need to visit ent surgeon to get a proper diagnosis. For now do warm saline gargle alternate with betadine gargle. Take more water. Take a course of antibiotic. Please review if you have any queries.
