Is This Something I Should Get Checked Out Sooner?

Question: I have Ankylosing Spondylitis and have had reoccurring diarrhea and constipation. Lately I have been having very sharp pains that seem to move from my belly button down to my lower right abdomen. It is intermittent but happens most days. I have an appointment with a GI to be evaluated for IBD, is this something I should get checked out sooner? The pain is very acute and sharp but does not last very long and then comes back.
Brief Answer:
Answer given below
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Ankylosing spondylitis may be associated with IBD like Crohn's disease.
Crohn's disease can develop complications like strictures which can cause bowel obstruction. Bowel obstruction causes symptoms like what you have.
You can go to ER for a scan to rule out bowel obstruction.
