Brief Answer: It is a very minor procedure! Detailed Answer: Hi and thank you so much for this query. I understand we all get scare when we hear of surgical procedures. This is normal and expected. However, this is a very minor procedure that uses a needle to obtain sample tissue from the thyroid gland for analysis. This would be very similar to an injection if you have ever had one before. What even makes it less painful than man injection is the fact that nothing is injected into it as opposed to injections where drugs are injected that often account for the pain. You would be administered powerful pain medications before the procedure and be rest assured this would go on with minimal discomfort and pain. Also, pain medications would be provided after the procedure to prevent and treat any pain that may occur. In all, everything would be done to make this a pain free experience and minimize any possible pain. You would do just fine. Thanks for using our services. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Dr. Ditah, MD.
