Question: Dear Doctor,
We are planning for a kid i would like to know everything related to pregnancy & precautions during pregnancy.

First question
We are travelling by flight to XXXXXXX in november and then we might travel by road. i have heard travelling affects a pregnant woman.

Second question
I luv to do excercise & my wife too luvs it. But needed your guidance at the time of pregnancy during 9 months

Third question
Can you give me a list of healthy foods that is good for baby and mother and how often to have & what type of foods to avoid at the time of pregnancy during 9 mnths
anything left out please add up in precaution during pregnancy.

also if my wife conceives can i have sex after tht

1. If your wife conceives by the time you have planned to travel, travel by train if you must. It is preferable to avoid all sorts of travel during the first trimester.

2. Exercise during pregnancy is to be done under the supervision of your consultant. Heavy exercise is to be avoided. Also, there are some prenatal exercises that help to have easy labor.

3. Intake of diet rich in essential vitamins, minerals, protein is advisable. Plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables should be taken along with milk and milk products. Fruits like papaya should be avoided. Sesame seeds also should be avoided. Prenatal vitamins like folate can be taken.

4. Intercourse during pregnancy should be restricted to the mid-trimester only. This is to avoid undue pressure to the uterus. Stress in any form is to be avoided.

1. I have already mentioned the food preferred and foods to be avoided. Avoid fatty food, oily food and fried food. Bakery items like pizza and burgers etc., cola drinks, smoke etc., should also be avoided. Prefer boiled food, rich in protein and essential nutrients.

2. Exercise during pregnancy is to be done under surveillance. Yoga is good both to help overcome the discomforts during pregnancy and also to facilitate easy labor. Please contact a good instructor for more details.

3. Since you have an appointment which needs lot of travel, I would suggest postponement of your pregnancy plans until you finish your trip.

There is not going to be any difference in a few months. You can safely plan the pregnancy after November, which is just 6 months away. Also, I would like to inform you, pregnancy need not happen in the very first month of trial. It can also take time.

Considering the age of your wife, her ovarian reserve should be good enough. Around 40, things have to get faster.

You can get many good books on pregnancy online, Mayo Clinic's Guide to a healthy pregnancy is a good one.

All said and done, the need of a cesarean is decided either during advanced pregnancy or labor. This will be decided by the attending specialist at the time. Please do not worry before even attempting a pregnancy. Anxiety is not at all good for your wife. This can cause hormone imbalances and affect ovulation. Things can be planned as and when needed.
