Brief Answer:
UPJ is Ureteric Pelvic Junction and not Polycystic Kidney Disease.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query,

UPJ is Uretero Pelvic Unction (UPJ)

I would like to elaborate in detail.

The kidneys produce urine that is collected in a bag termed as Renal Pelvis .This urine is then drained down through one tube called Ureter into bladder. These are two separate components and join together at what is called as Pelvi Ureteric Junction (PUJ).

In 6% of population there is congenital diffect in joining these two components resulting into what is termed as PUJ obstruction that causes obstruction to drainage of urine in to bladder.

Polycystic disease of the kidney involves medulla of the kidney which contains either multiple or single balloon containing clear fluid.(Cyst) This occurs due to diffect in formation of cortex of the kidney.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask me I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards.

Brief Answer:
Report reveals Congenital PUJ obstruction.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for feedback and uploading report of CT scan.
It clearly reflects non functioning kidney on left side due to congenital PUJ obstruction for last 36 years

The only treatment option is to remove this non functioning kidney as it is a source of infection in the body .

Thanks and Regards.

Brief Answer:
It is since birth .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up.It is always from birth but is noticed in early childhood and detected on ultrasound scanning of the abdomen done for pain in abdomen .

It is painless as the kidney is not functioning and the pain that you have now is due to secondary infection in stagnated urine in that kidney,

The surgery for removal of that kidney can be done by minimal invasive technique (Laproscopic Surgery)

Thanks and Regards.
