Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.
Urethral syndrome and interstitial cystitis show many similarities in symptoms but the main difference between them is,
In urethral syndrome there is sole pain in the urethra while urination and increased frequency of urination.Symptoms are mostly associated with lower urinary tract infection.
Interstitial cystitis is a chronic inflammation seen in urinary bladder in the absence of any apparent underlying reason such as a urinary tract infection. There is painful urination but the pain is more felt over lower abdomen area,in the inner thighs, and/or the area between the anus and vagina. The pain may be mild to severe and intermittent or constant.
Hope this will help.

Likely to be interstitial cystitis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the reply.
Yes,urethral syndrome can be become chronic or symptoms can be resolved with proper antibiotics dosage and course.
But if you had three bladder infection over a year and if it is diagnosed by appropriate blood and urine examination with cystoscopy or urethro-cystoscopy then it is likely to be interstitial cystitis.
If you have been suffering from intermittent burning and stinging in urethra then you need to be investigated it properly by above mentioned tests.
Once the diagnosis is confirmed, we can plan further course of appropiate antibiotics treatment.
You can see urologist who will know about all the investigations and treatment.
