Is Viral Infection Of Mouth Contagious?

Question: I work around children. A child had sore/blisters in his mouth that was bleeding last thursday. I'm very paranoid person with infections. The mother was told by the doctor that it was a viral infection but did not say what it was exactly.

Today the child had picked up a cookie from the carpet and put it in his mouth, and i quickly removed the part of the cookie that haven't made its way into his mouth from him. I felt like I touched abit of his saliva from the cookie, from that moment I got very paranoid I could catch something from him. I understand that if i dont have cuts infection is lower. But because I work with children I'm constantly washing my hands my hand is abit cracked from the dryness.

So what are the chances of me being infected from whatever the child might have had? I did wash my hands right after.

I'm very paranoid because recently I was diagnosed with HSV 1 on my lip. After finding that out I was so afraid of spreading it every where on my body.

I'm also wondering if the child could have hsv in his mouth?


so now I'm scared where ever my finger touched the saliva on the cookie from the child is where the infections is. and is afraid touching my face or any part of my body.
