Is Vitamin B6 Overdose A Cause For Concern?

Question: Vit. B6 overdose ? Hello, I am 8 weeks pregnant and took a B6 supplement of 100 mg on top of my prenatals which have 10mg? Is this too much? Is baby ok?
Brief Answer:
The dose of Vitamin B6 that you took is not harmful.
Detailed Answer:
Hello, and I hope I can help you today.
Vitamin B6 is recommended during pregnancy as a supplement and is included in the ingredients of most prenatal vitamins.
However, Vitamin B6 is also used safely during pregnancy at higher doses to help with nausea during pregnancy. The dose recommended for nausea is 400mg.
So the 100mg dose you took is not harmful at all and there is no reason for concern.
I hope I was adequately answered your question today and that this information was reassuring.
If you need anything further, do not hesitate to contact me.
Best wishes, Dr. Brown

Can i also take zantac 75? It seems to help . I am only 8 weeks ?
Brief Answer:
It is not harmful, but Pepcid is better studied
Detailed Answer:
Antacids like Zantac and Pepcid are safe to use during pregnancy, however Pepcid is generally recommended more because it has more evidence of safety.
But if you have the Zantac at home there is no evidence that it is harmful. So I do not think you need to worry about taking it occasionally.
I hope that this advice is helpful, and good luck with the rest of the pregnancy,
