Is Walking Advisable After A Knee Injury?

default
Posted on Tue, 21 Oct 2014
Question: I injured my ankle and will be having microfracture surgery for an ocd of the talus and peroneal tendon repair in a few weeks. I also fell on my knee and it has swollen and buckles and feels unstable and is quite painful. I got a cortisone shot in the knee but I think it wore off after 2 weeks. Of course, its my right ankle and my left knee and I am using crutches, but the knee has gotten worse and walking hurts. I am in a cam boot for the ankle and I have a knee support but by the end the day I am in a lot of pain. I got an MRI of the knee but results are not back yet. Should I even be walking on it? I am still working but wonder if I should go out on disability, surgery is in a little over a month. I also have arthritis in both knees, hips, back and shoulders.

Brief Answer:
Better to take rest till MRI report come

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for posting
I have gone through your query carefully and based on that minimum necessary walking is allowed but avoid outdoor activities if possible as you will require leaves for ankle surgery.
Meanwhile you may continue with the pain killer medicine which suits you along with hot water fomentation.
You may share the MRI report when it comes.I shall be glad to answer any further query.
