Question: Good afternoon Doctor.
My wife is normally having low Haemoglobin, around 9, and low Platelet counts over last one year (between 100K and 46K) In tests done in previouslt... later the counts were around 60K to 70 k. But in early Feb 2018 when tests were done, Platelet count was reported at 150K. After a few days, re-tests were done when the result was 94K and in March it came down to 61K.
Is such wide fluctuation in Platelet in a month's time possible, specially when she had no other treatment or illness during this period.

Brief Answer:
As explained below.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Usually this type of fluctuation can be seen if the person has multivitamin deficiency or stress. As her hemoglobin is less, she may be having folic acid/ vitamin b 12 deficiency. I would suggest she gets Vitamin B12 test, calcium, Iron studies and folic acid test and if deficient start treatment. She can get IV ferric carboxymaltose injection for low hemoglobin or start on Tab. Orofer XT which has iron and folic acid.

I hope this answered your query.
Regards
