Is Yellowish Discoloration In The Sclera Of The Eye Along With Some Itchiness A Serious Concern?

Question: Hello! I’m attaching a few images of my right eye. While looking in my magnifying mirror this evening, I noticed that the red vessels in it look irritated and there is some pink and yellowish discoloration in the white of my eye. My eye was perfectly fine this morning, and I noticed this after I had taken a walk outside and it was very windy out. I also suffer from seasonal allergies. There is no pain in that eye but it is somewhat itchy. I had a full eye exam a few months ago and everything was fine with both eyes. Does this appear to be simply irritation to the eye, or a burst vessel, and does it appear to be anything to be concerned about? Thank you so much!
Brief Answer:
Non worrisome
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query and I am a practicing ophthalmologist for 8 yrs.
I checked both the pictures. There is mild redness towards the inner canthus of the eye.
I do not see a worrisome reason here.
This is a reaction by the eye against windy walk outside. This is quite common.
You can wash your eye with ample amounts of cold water and that should be all. If you still feel dryness you can use GenTeal Lubricant Eye Drops one drop in the eye for two to three times. These are available over the counter.
Hope this answers your question.
