I've Been Having An Odd Set Of Symptoms For A

default
Posted on Sat, 8 Dec 2018
Question: I've been having an odd set of symptoms for a 2-3 weeks. I have less appetite, more thirst, mild nausea, fatigue, mild cramping after bowel movements, hemorrhoids, low back pain, some body aching. None of these are usual for me. They started after a sudden cramping diarrhea episode about two-three weeks ago. I am 55, post-partial hysterectomy, HPV+, overweight, mitral valve prolapse. Normally: I never get thirsty and often have to remind myself to drink fluids; I'm energetic; never any gut or bowel issues; no med changes; no diet changes. I work with the public and my workplace shares bathrooms with the public. I'm perplexed by this one.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for trusting us with your health related questions.

I understand your concern. After carefully reviewing your medical history I think that there may be more than one cause for the symptoms you are experiencing, however, many of the symptoms you describe are consistent with blood sugar levels above the norm, so I advice you start with a complete blood test, blood glucose levels, as well as thyroid hormone levels and a urine test to rule out diabetes and a low functioning thyroid. I'd also recommend a stool test.

Food allergies also need to be ruled out, considering the diarrhea, nausea and cramping, so I suggest a skin and blood test for food intolerance would be next in order.

Based on the test results your doctor will advice you on how to proceed further.

I hope this answers your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.
