I've Been Having Calf Cramps And Ankle Pain (a Sort
Sciatica vs DVT
Detailed Answer:
Hi there
Thanks for the query
It is possible that this pain is not getting relieved because it is of neurological origin due to the compression of the nerves by the discs.
I say this because there is an element of tingling and numbness and pins and needles sensation which you experience.
It would be useful to get an MRI of the lumbar spine to confirm the security of the disc compression.
A medicine called pregabalin or gabapentin can help you but since they are controlled drugs you may not get easy access to them unless from your GP.
Avoid bending forward or lifting weights.
Perform back strengthening exercises with a physiotherapist as this can really help.
Also a Doppler venous scan can help differentiate it from a deep vein thrombosis or DVT which can present itself similarly.
Thanks and regards.
