Ive Been Having Excessive Mucus For About 8 Months Is
Question: Ive been having excessive mucus for about 8 months is this a sign of HIV
Brief Answer:
not a symptom associated with HIV
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
No, this is not a symptom of HIV.
Excessive mucus is most commonly related either to common cold or flu infection involving the respiratory tract particularly the nose or sinuses or it may be related to allergies that affect the sinuses (sinusitis) or nose (rhinitis) or both (rhinosinusitis)
It is not associated with HIV
HIV may cause symptoms in some persons when the virus is first acquired eg in the first few weeks. Many persons may not have any symptoms at all.
If you are concerned, then you can consider an HIV screening test
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

This helps allot and its funny because when I search the internet to see what maybe causing this problem this what I see the most HIV lol. I mean its been almost a year of excessive mucus and I did have stage 1 hodgkins lymphoma about 3 years ago and did cemotherophy so I was considering the fact that this could be a long term side effect. I also drink allot. Is there anything else I can do beside the medicines proscribed to get over this constant mucus I've been on the medicine about 20 days
Brief Answer:
may consider allergy testing
Detailed Answer:
HI
If you have any known allergies or know of any particular irritants then these should be avoided.
I had a patient that was allergic to bananas according to her allergy test , this turned out to be the cause of her post nasal mucus drip.
Can make a note of any particular foods or medications or drinks etc that seem to promote your mucus secretion.
If you can ( if no infection is present as the cause), you can consider allergy testing from your doctor.
If there is no obvious cause or unable to do the allergy test at this time, unfortunately may need to continue the medications for now
Please feel free to ask anything else
