I’ve Been In And Out Of The Hospital The Past

Question: I’ve been in and out of the hospital the past few weeks. I appear to have non heart related lain around my right chest, a hiatal hernia, and anxiety/depression. My question is the last few times my bloodwork has been perfect except for low hgb and hct but with normal mcv leading me to assume I’m dealing with normocytic anemia. Nobody has even brought this us but I’m tired all day and have been fighting off these symptoms. My hgb is 12.5 and my hct is 35.6 mcv 84.3....should I be panicked or could this just be from a stomach ulcer perhaps my endoscopy will reveal. Is there anything I can do or should I just relax?

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question. Hope I can be of help for you today. The blood test result that you just send is normocytic anemia. By definition, the mean RBC volume is normal. You may need to exam the blood smear it is important in order to determine if there is a small population of red cells with distinctive size or shape abnormalities which would place the patient in one of the categories (ie, early microcytic or macrocytic anemia), or would suspicion of an acute or chronic hemolytic state. Hemolytic states depend on the history, physical examination and peripheral blood smear. The other cause can be caused from chronic disease including kidney disease etc. Your Hgb and hct is not too low that can cause you to be very tired or very concerned. If your doctor did not find any other chronic disease you may try to eat food that contains high iron such as meat, green vegetables etc. You are probably tired from depression symptoms. In this case you should follow up with your doctor about your depression. I saw you take Zoloft...pantoprazol...seroquel it helps your stomach if it is bleeding from stomach, and to make sure you have stomach bleeding or not your doctor may need to do stool hemoccult. Endoscopy is good to see if you have stomach ulcer or not. Diazepam if not the right medicine to use for your depression. You should treat the cause of depression by seeing counseling and your doctor also needs to prescribe you the right medicine for depression.

I hope that It can help you, and please let me know if you have any clarification or question about that, and I would be welcome to discuss it with you further. I hope you have good health.
