I've Been Taking Seroquel (queltiapine Fumarate) 50mg. Once Per Day

Question: I've been taking seroquel (queltiapine fumarate) 50mg. once per day for insomnia. I've been taking it for 30 days. I've gained 9 lbs. and my ankles and feet seem to be swollen. I've been eating a little more than usual because I've gained an appetitie, but 9 lbs. seems like a lot. But it's more worrisome to me that my feet and ankles are swollen. I'm 66 years old but I'm in really great shape. I am 5' 6" and weigh 150 now. But my normal weight is usually between 138 and 141. I ride my bike 2-5 miles per day and I'm very active, I train dogs for a living which is great exercise.

Brief Answer:
Common side effect

Detailed Answer:
Dear Ma’am, I have gone through your question and I understand your concerns but weight gain is a common side effect that occurs in about 10% of patients using Seroquel. Also using Seroquel can lead to impaired renal functions and lower limb swelling. I would recommend that you get a blood test to check on your renal functions ( urea and creatinine). I hope you find this helpful.
