Question: I've got high blood pressure but I think I caused it. I only ate cheese for about a month straight and now I'm having these pressure spikes. One time my pressure was 220 over 90. I also get a burning sensation inside of my body, mostly my stomach and chest. I get dizzy spells and constantly feel light headed. I'm also very weak and sometimes can barely walk. Before this I was perfectly healthy.

Hello!

Welcome to Ask a Doctor service!

I understand your concern and would explain that your complaints could be related to high blood pressure values, as well as to a metabolic disorder ( thyroid gland dysfunction, electrolyte imbalance, vitamin B12 deficiency, etc.).

Your blood pressure values are extremely high and further investigations are needed in order to find the cause underlying your symptoms underlying your complaints .
For this reason, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam and some tests :

- complete blood count, PCR, ESR levels for possible inflammation
thyroid hormone levels for possible thyroid gland dysfunction
- blood electrolytes
- kidney and liver function tests
- cortisol and aldosterone plasma levels for possible adrenal gland dysfunction
- vitamin D and vitamin B12 plasma levels.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above tests.

In the meantime, as long as your blood pressure values are high, which imposes your at a high risk for brain or eye bleeding, I would recommend starting antihistamines therapy.

I remain at your disposal for any further questions whenever you need!

Kind regards,

Dr.Iliri
