I've Got White On The Back Of My Tongue Along
Question: I've got white on the back of my tongue along with a few red bumps. I believe it is oral thrush and have been swishing warm salt water every night for about 5 days now. I don't notice many symptoms other than cotton mouth sometimes and dry lips. is there any medication that can treat this OTC? I was told clotrimizole is by prescription only
Brief Answer:
Use daktarin gel and acidophilus pills.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
I see the photo you attached and the back of your tongue is white with red dots and it seems clearly that it is thrush as you yourself suspected.
Most of the lozenges and tablets are with prescription.
You can find daktarin gel (miconazole) over the counter also gentian violet .
You can use acidophilus pills which are probiotics and can restore normal oral bacterial flora.
Also remember to wash mouth well and rinse with salt and water.
Hope I have answered the question.
