Question: I've had kidney stones twice in the past year, one in each kidney, and both were removed through RIRS surgery. I'm 165 cm tall and weigh 80 kg. I've recently started going to the gym and wanted to know if it’s safe for me to take whey protein.

Brief Answer:
You should not exceed 80 g protein per day

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thank You for the query.

Increased protein intake is a known factor of some kidney stones formation.
It does not cause serious risk other than You may have kidney stones again.
The point is in a dosage. It is advisable to eat no more than a 1.0 g of protein per kg of body weight daily. So in Your case it is 80 g of protein in total and You should not exceed it.
Moreover as You probably know, you should increase clear fluids intake such as mineral water.

Hope this helps

Hi Doctor,

Attached is my latest blood test report. I can see many abnormal numbers related to my cholesterol and kidneys. Could you please review it once and advise how to treat this? I also noted I have reduced my body weight from 86 to 80 from last year, but the cholesterol numbers have increased. Please advise how I can manage my cholesterol and reduce my weight.

Brief Answer:
Please consult hematologist

Detailed Answer:
According to the report you have a little bit too high level of hemoglobin as well as bilirubin AST and LDH.
Is this your first blood report or you have any previous reports to be comoared?
I suggest You to cobsult hematologist with this reports as such numbers can indicate blood disease.
If it is about high cholesterole level, this can be reduced with diet. Try to cut some fats in Your diet and replace animal fats with plant based fats. If this wont be effective medicines can be given (so called statins).

Hope this helps
