Question: Just returned from Bali 24 hours ago. small sore in mouth turned into swollen jaw and jaw pain. had mumps as a child. have had sore throat for 10 days. no fever. joint pain may be from activity. only had bottled water, but swam in a natural spring. feeling ill, headaches, mild nausea. saw dentist upon arrival. mouth improving but still feel bad. any suggestions?

I read your query and here is my advice.

I don't think the swollen jaw and small sore in mouth may be related to any infection disease caught in Bali.
I think it can be related to a tooth infection or gum infection. I don't know if your dentist said the same and if he gave you antibiotics about it.
Taking antinflammatory drugs such advil or acetaminophen for pain and fever is advisable. Also you may need to use ice compresses on your jaw to reduce swelling.
