Last Month I Took Plan B Twice In 72 Hours

Posted on Sun, 2 Jun 2019
Question: Last month I took Plan B twice in 72 hours and my period came a week early on the 14th. This month I took Plan B on the 26th. I also started my routine birth control shortly afterwards. It is now May 12th when I should be starting my period and I have no signs. I took a pregnancy test yesterday and this morning (clear Blue and First Response) both we’re negative. Should I have concerns of being pregnant? Is my period delayed due to all the hormones?

Brief Answer:
Delay is due to hormonal pills.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
After taking Plan B there can be a small withdrawal bleeding. It usually delays the period. This month after taking Plan B you have started with a regular birth control pill. You will get your periods 23-25 days after the starting date of birth control pill. Taking hormonal pills can cause such a delay. Since the pregnancy tests are negative, the pregnancy is ruled out. There is no need to worry.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
