Left Eyebrow Not In Level With Right After Raising Them. Is This Paralysis, Bells Palsy?
Question: Hello,
I have started noticing over the last few months that when I try to raise my eyebrows to their fullest extent, the left one is not level with the right one (it is lower). And when my face is in a relaxed state, my right eye appears to be more open. How should I handle this?
Also, when I try to move only my right eyebrow I can do it, but not when I try to move only my left one.

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The explanation of symptoms given by suggests that it may be bell’s (facial) palsy left sided.
I also want to know whether you have difficulty in chewing or drooling of saliva or food from left angle of mouth. If this is the case then you have to consult a physician or ENT specialist early to start treatment.
He may advise you antiviral, steroids and physiotherapy, which will improve your weakness.
There is other possibilities too like isolated muscle weakness. These possibilities are rare in you.
I hope I have answered your query, feel free to ask further queries if any.
Regards.

Hello,
Thank you for your response.
However, I have no issue chewing, and in fact chew primarily on my left side (the side with the weak eyebrow). There is also no drooling whatsoever.
Is there some sort of treatment to train isolated facial muscles to be stronger?
Like facial physiotherapy or something?
Also, what type of specialist would be the most appropriate to see in person about this eventually?

Hello,
Thanks for reply too.
Dropping of left eye lid / eye brow is seen in facial nerve weakness - as seen in Bell's palsy. Hence I advise you to take an opinion of Neurologist OR neuro - ophthalmologist. A detailed examination to look for other signs of bell's phenomena is recommended.
If neurological examination is unremarkable, then you do not need to worry.
If there is a problem, it can be addressed by physiotherapy. Medications if any can be prescribed by the specialist following physical examination.
Hope this answers your query. Feel free to ask for further queries if any.
