Long Back (around 10yrs Or More) I Had A Small

default
Posted on Wed, 28 Nov 2018
Question: Long back (around 10yrs or more) i had a small accident and as part of recovery i had a big scar on my left leg which remained permanently without any pain/pus or dis-comfort to me, so i ignored and left as it is. But now i observe small black spots/marks arising near to it and no other places in my full body. I assume its not related to the big scar, but it is near to it and no other place. Can you please let me know any specific reason for those black spots and are these possible for spreading? any ointment you suggest to overcome/shade it?
I have attached an image of the same in uploads section.

Brief Answer:
Schamberg's purpura

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

These small black spots are of Schamberg's disease which is due to leakage of blood from capillaries into the skin. The haemoglobin from leaked blood subsequently gets converted to hemosiderin which stains the skin as reddish brown to brown spots around ankles and lower legs. Schamberg's purpura is harmless. It is only a cosmetic problem. It may resolve spontaneously in many or may persist. Treatment is not very effective but you may try betamethasone valerate 0.1% cream (betnovate cream), twice daily.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you need any more assistance

Thank you doctor for the reply.
I can understand from your reply that it is a cosmotic problem and will not expand and harm in anyway.
But trying to understand the possiblity of this occurrence, it's not related to my current medication right? Also not related to vitamin d or b12 deficiency right?
Any possible reason could explain this happening, so that I can take precautions..
