MRI And CT Showed No Stroke But They Do Think It Was A Blood Clot Why

Question: I had a stroke like episode a week ago. I passed out, couldn’t talk or move left side. The night before my legs were throbbing and it woke me up. I was given TPA in ER and stayed overnight. I now take plavix, baby aspirin, Lipitor. I have no markers for stroke- non smoker, slight elevated cholesterol, no hbp, no family history. I am one week out and am very dizzy. I don’t feel right . The MRI and CT showed no stroke but they do think it was a blood clot. I had covid in January. I take no other meds but what was prescribed Is this my new normal? I don’t feel stable enough to work as a dental hygienist! My GP can’t see me till mid April and forget seeing a neurologist till mid May!

Brief Answer:
It was probably a TIA. For now the medication is correct.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have read your question.

Since the MRI and CT did not show any brain damage after this stroke-like episode, you should not be worried much more than necessary.

It was most likely a transient ischemic attack or TIA.

It is understandable to experience some symptoms such as dizziness, etc. after such episodes, but these should subside with time.

The prescribed medication should cover the recurrence and I agree with that treatment, at least until you see your Neurologist.

Cardiac function workup should be considered in the future to exclude any cardiac problems such as arrhythmias, etc. that may lead to stroke.

Staying healthy, active, and having a correct diet also is indispensable.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

let me know if I can assist you further.
