Brief Answer:
Joint replacement will be needed later.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is a noninvasive treatment option for necrosis of femoral head. It decreases the bone marrow edema, improves pain and motor function thus makes the patient symptomatically better. It can slow the further progression of the disease and and can delay the surgery. But it can not reverse the bone necrosis that has already happened and thus the hip replacement will be needed later.
I hope this answers your query.
