Mucus Passed With Gas. History Of Hemorrhoids, Gastritis And Diverticulitis
Question: My husband just had a large amount of mucus when he passed gas. He has never had mucus with gas and never such a large amount. He is concerned. He is a 54yo with a history of hemmoroids, gastritis and diverticulitis. He had a normal colonoscopy one year ago.

normal except for the presence of diverticulosis and the
hemorrhoids.Presence of large amount of mucus along
with gas may just be related to the kind of food that he
may have ingested.Food that had lots of cheese,sour cream,
Or lots of beans can produce more gas due to natural
fermentation during digestive process.
Excess mucus could be just part of it. Sometimes, if
thereis beginning inflammation in the pockets or
Diverticula, there could be excess mucus.
If he does not have frver, chills or abdominal pain
along with diarrhea, I would not be concerned.
External hemorrhoids can cause some bleeding or
mucus sometimes.
