My 33 Year Old Friend Has Been Diagnosed With Cancer

Question: My 33 year old friend has been diagnosed with cancer in his colon. After a suffering some bleeding multiple large polyps, some up to 4 cms (the largest was found to be cancerous) were found during a colonoscopy. Further tests have indicated no spread beyond the Colon walls and no sign of spread into any lymph nodes. The polyps are spread throughout the whole Colon. The surgery recommended is the total removal of the colon as a safe guard for the future. The cancer is at the end of the Colon. They proposed linking up the small intestine to the rectum. Is there a good quality of life without the colon if the cancer is totally removed and the connection is successful? Is this the safest option for the future? Thanks in advance.
Brief Answer:
Blood test for CEA every 3 months
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Yes there will be a good quality of life without the colon if the colon cancer is totally removed and the connection is successful and it is also the safest as colon cancer has a tendency to recur very quickly
Since no lymph nodes are involved chemotherapy is not needed at this moment
However you need to do blood test for CEA every 3 months
