My 4 Month Old Son Is Having 5to6 Loose Motions Since One Week
Question: My 4 month old son is having 5to6 loose motions since one week. Earlier he was passing stool once in 3 to 4 days. He is only on breastfeed and there is no major change in mother diet. What should I do or is this normal
Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
In a 4 months old baby who is on exclusive breast feeding, this scan be taken as normal.
Young infants can pass stools 6-8 times/ day to once in 6-7 days. Anything in this range is normal.
If he is active and playful, feeding well and there is no fever/vomiting/blood stained stool, nothing to worry.
I hope this will address your concern
Let me know if you need further help
Thanks.

Hi Dr,
Thanks for your response. Glad to hear that it’s normal for infants to pass stool multiple times a day.
However my kid is passing loose/watery stool, slightly greenish in color mostly immediately after feeding. Is this ok?

Brief Answer:
It is okay
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear
I understand your concern
But it can be taken as normal if no additional features as mentioned before
Let’s wait and watch for 5-7 days. If it’s pathological, additional features will emerge by then. Until then no worries .
Regards
