Suggests acute gastro-enteritis
Detailed Answer:
Hi Subhoraj,
Welcome to Ask A Doctor service
I have gone through your query and understand your concern
A sudden onset of abdominal discomfort, nausea and loose stools in a child suggests acute gastroenteritis or food poisoning.
But we need not worry. Most of these are viral and need only supportive measures.
You can give him Ondansetron 4mg tablet 2-3 times daily for vomiting. Give 1 hour before food. For abdominal pain/discomfort, Cyclopam tablet will help(Paracetamol500mg + Dicyclomine 20mg). You can give half tablet 3 times daily.
Also give frequent sips of fluids like ORS solution or salted rice water after each stools to avoid dehydration. Give around 200ml per stool.
All these are available over the counter without prescription.
Most likely he will be alright by 3rd or 4th days with these measures. If no improvement, if he develops persistent fever(1-2 spike are okey), or if the stools becomes mucus/blood stained, we will need antibiotics too. Meanwhile, watch for signs of dehydration(decreased urine output, dry mouth, sunken eyes) and avoid giving fruits/fruit juices.
I hope this answer will help
