Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through your query and do understand your concern. But there is no much to worry as of now.

I guess there is no any overlying visible swelling or skin colour changes. Also I assume he do not have/had in recent past, any other symptoms like fever or cough.

This might suggest a minor inflammation/contusion underneath. Children are extremely active and exploratory in nature, and some trauma that have gone unnoticed while playing can be the trigger here.

But we need not worry now. Skeletal pains of significance in children are located either over limbs, joints or over middle of back. Pain over shoulder blade is mostly inflammatory in origin and will disappear with a course of anti-inflammatory drugs.

You can give him Acetaminophen 325mg tablet 3 times daily for 3-5 days. He will be alright by then. If not, we can evaluate further. Until then, absolutely no concerns and let him avoid vigorous plays/sports activities . Stay relaxed.

I hope this answer will help

There is a number it things that come up when you Google child 6 year old and back pain that says red flags etc.

He normally sleeps in his bed and has been sleeping on the floor latley. Maybe this could have caused it.

He had been playing or having baseball practice 3 days a week starting a couple weeks ago too.

No fever, no cough, no redness or swelling. Sometimes he just reaches over with his right shoulder blade area saying it hurts right there. The pain is not constant either.

Brief Answer:
No worries

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
Thank you for the details given,

So my comments and suggestions stands same as before- no worries now- just avoid sporting for 5 days and give analgesic as mentioned. As you mentioned, sleeping on a hard surface can be the cause.

Leave google. Just for an example, if we search risks of a car drive, google will give road traffic accident and disability as a possibility- this does not mean we should avoid driving, but need to be careful. Likewise, there is nothing to worry now, but we will keep following him up until he is fine back. Just be relaxed and follow what we discussed. Most likely he will be fine in 5-7 days.

Hope I have answered your query
