My 8year Old Having High Temperature Continuously I Have Been Giving Meftal Spas
Question: I have been giving Meftal Spas to my 8 year old son 28.5 kg for the last 4 days instead of Meftal P......he is having high temperature continuously.........what has to be done

I have gone through your query and here is my advice.
Meftal spas has dicyclomine along mefenemic acid which is antispasmodic.
Medtal p is mefenemic acid which is analgesic and antipyretic.
Let me know if he has other symptoms like cold, cough, stomach ache, headache.
Since now he is having fever, I suggest you to give acetaminophen 15 mg / kg per dose and in case it does not subside or rises, and symptoms do not subside get him examined by pediatrician for further analysis to treat him accordingly.
He may procure complete heamogram, malarial parasite, throat swab as per his evaluation.
He may require antibiotics accordingly as per reports.
Give plenty of fluids to maintain proper hydration.
Do tepid sponging .
Maintain proper hygiene.

As you have given Tablet Meftal spas instead of Tablet Meftal P. Tablet meftal spas is effective against spasmodic abdominal pain. Considering dosage dicyclomine 10 mg and Mefanamic acid 250 mg twice a day, is completely safe. Nothing to be concerned.
Kindly continue meftal P as suggested. Along with that, kindly follow all measures as suggested earlier.
Keep him well hydrated. Can use oral rehydration solution in case of dehydration.
Contine doing cold sponging.
