My 9 Month Old Is Hot To The Touch Has
Might suggest gastroenteritis
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I understand your concern
Ca you clear few more points?
1.How long she is having this?
2.Does the stool contain blood or mucus?
3.Any pain or discomfort on passing stool?
4.Any vomiting?
5.Is she passing urine normally, or less?
Fever and loose stools suggests acute gastroenteritis. Most of these are caused by viruses and need only supportive treatment with zinc and fluids like ORS to prevent dehydration. If fever continues beyond 2-3 days, stool contain blood/mucus or there is pain on passing stools, this can suggest dysentery that will need antibiotics too. In such cases I used to give cefixime for 5 days.
So kindly get back with details. Meanwhile give her frequent small sips of ORS or salted rice water after each stools to avoid dehydration. Give tylenol 3-4 times a day as needed. If she becomes lethargic, not at all taking feeds or passes little urine, kindly take her to pediatrician without delay.
