Question: My Bursa Sac swelled 2 weeks ago and is not going down. It is not causing pain, but does not look well and is very uncomfortable. What steps should I take. My general doctor suggested leaving it. I would like it drained or removed?

Brief Answer:
Probably bursitis, follow the advice below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I already reviewed the attached report.

Your symptoms seem to be related to bursitis or an inflammation of the bursa sac.

I would recommend you to do an ultrasound to confirm the diagnosis.

In my opinion, there is no need for drainage.

Meanwhile, I recommend using anti-inflammatory medication such as Naproxen 500 mg three times a day.

I would recommend to avoid physical activity and don't overuse the area.

I suggest using ice to relieve the swelling.

If the symptoms aggravate or if you continue to feel pain, antibiotics may be needed.

I would recommend Augmentin 625 mg twice a day for five days.

You should consult your doctor about this treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
