Question: My Iron levels showed up to be 810 ng/ml. What should I do? What treatment is recommended? Is this the cause that I feel tired and nauseous? I feel sick in my stomach, my mouth fills with saliva, goes back down the stomach and then I vomit.
Currently I’m taking Lansoprazole 30mg, Lexilium 3mg tablets, and Imipramine 25mg. I think it’s too much antidepressants to take in. I’m all the time in sleep. I would like your advice please.

Brief Answer:
Iron studies need to be done. Other symptoms are probably psychological

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on Ask a Doctor service.
I have gone through your laboratory reports which a normal urine analysis. Complete blood count (CBC) low hemoglobin and high serum ferritin.
Rest of the CBC values are normal.
I suggest you to get iron profile - iron, TIBC and transferrin saturation and peripheral blood smear examination and post the reports for more information and interpretation.
Regarding symptoms of feeling sick and vomiting, I am of the opinion that these symptoms are psychological and not organic.
I suggest you to discuss the symptoms with your psychologist/ psychiatrist.
Feeling sleepy is probably due to sedative effect of anti- depressants.
I suggest you to continue your anti- depressants and not to discontinue without consulting your psychiatrist.

Thanks and take care

Brief Answer:
High ferritin can occur due to iron overload and decreased iron abs

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome again,
High ferritin levels can occur due to various causes like iron overload with deceased absorption of iron.
To know the exact cause, iron status also needs to be known to treat and manage the condition.
