Brief Answer:
Cirrhosis is a diagnosis made on ultrasound or CT scan, stop drinking

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to Ask A Doctor Service

I both SGOT and SGPT are elevated, this indicates ongoing liver injury due to alcohol consumption.

Liver enzymes are elevated when the damage is acute and it does not inform us about the anatomical structure of the liver.

Cirrhosis is an anatomical diagnosis, so that needs imaging tests like ultrasound or CT scan of the liver.

If you have been drinking from many years, then there is a likelihood of cirrhosis.

Cirrhosis is not curable. But liver damage without cirrhosis is curable if you stop alcohol consumption completely and do not take any medications that can damage liver such as paracetamol.

Please do confirm the state of liver cirrhosis by imaging studies and consult a gastroenterologist at the earliest.

I hope you will find this information useful.

Wishing you speedy recovery.

Best regards
