Question: My blood pressure was 145 over 193 today - what should I do?

Hi,

At this point, you should remain calm. Yes, BP of 193/145mmHg is higher than acceptable limits. Try and relax. Then repeat BP after 5-10 minutes. If BP remains above 180/140mmHg, you should immediately report this to your treating doctor / ER.

Hi,

This figure is fairly ok. Though above normal limit, it wouldn't cause immediate damages.

I assume you have no history of high blood pressure. Repeat BP's on three different occasions preferably on three different days. If readings persist to be above 140/100, you should be started on long term antihypertensive medications.
