Question: My brother is 56 yo has stage 4 stomach cancer and is currently hospitalized and on TPN. He's lost about 80lbs (265 a few months ago). He has no appetite but wants to know if there is anything he can do to gain back his appetite. He does have bouts of nausea throughout the day.

Hello ,
I am extremely sorry but stage 4 is terminal stage of cancer and the loss of appetite is because of that only.
He could try some enzyme supplements and cyproheptadine but only after consulting his oncologist.
Bouts of nausea may be a result of medicines and chemotherapeutic agents he is on.Ask doctor to give Ondensetron to control that.
