Question: My chest xray says there are calcified ap window lymph nodes. What does that mean?
Brief Answer:
It is usually non serious and chronic finding but might need CT chest scan
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.
The AP window is an area in the superior mediastinum between the aorta and pulmonary arteries above the level of the heart. There are likely lymph nodes showing calcification in the AP window area of your chest xray.
As such calcified lymph nodes are a non serious and chronic finding and it might be from a condition that you might have had previously in your lifetime.
A CT chest scan might be needed to have a detailed evaluation of the area and to know any other associated abnormalities after discussing with your doctors.
