Brief Answer:
Need not worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I understand your concern

It is quite common for children of this age to have some pains in legs during evening hours and night- these are called growing pains. This need not be worried, and they will gradually overgrow this. Although often said to be from calcium deficiency, this is not true. The pain occur despite a normal serum calcium levels, although may be exacerbated by a co-existing deficiency.

So, unless there is documented calcium deficiency(a serum total calcium below 8 mg/dl), giving calcium supplements will not help. Incase you have done calcium level, and it is deficient, you can give syrup calcimax-P 7ml twice daily for 1 month to see the response. Otherwise, including food items rich in calcium in her diet might be sufficient(milk, cheese, green leafy vegetables, small fishes etc).

During pain episodes, massaging and muscle stretching will help. Paracetamol or ibuprofen can be used occasionally if pain is significant. In sever pains are resistant to above measures, or if there are other associated symptoms like poor appetite, loss of weight, or persistent fever, I used to obtain a complete blood count with ESR to rule out other contributing causes.
