Has The Fall Damaged Or Reshaped Her Cartilage? If So, How?

Question: My daughter (18 months old) rolled from a very tall bed while sleeping around 3 months ago. She landed on her face and got a bruise on her forehead. The base of her nostrils and the top of her nose were also red for a few days. Recently, I have noticed a very faint horizontal line over the columella of her nose almost half way from the tip of her nose. My question is “Has the fall damaged or reshaped her cartilage? If so, how? Are there any scar tissues? Is the line as a result of damage to the cartilage or scar tissue or could it be part of her development? Would appreciate a scientific explanation of what potential damages have occurred. Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Hi,
Detailed Answer:
Hii. Welcome to the health care services. The external framework of nose around the nostrils is mainly cartilaginous in nature. In the midline there is bony nasal septum. As your child has fallen over the ground it has created bruise over the nasal ala and on its cartilaginous part. I don't think this new horizontal line is due to any fracture or reshaping of the cartilage of the nose. The cartilage of the nose is very elastic, pliable and can resist sudden pressure changes. This horizontal line is the demarcation between upper nasal cartilage and nasal ala and is prominent in many individuals. Please send a picture of the nose and we will give further opinion. You can make light massage over dorsum of nose and ala.
Thanks.
