Question: My daughter lives in FL. She has a terrible skin rash over a year. It looks like a 3rd degree sunburn all over her body with sores that are very itchy that she is bleeding from the claws marks. Been on all types of medicines. Can't take Prednisone. She joints hurts so badly, where she has too stop do nails. Been to lots of doctors, they can't find out anything wrong with her. Her nerves are just about shot. her husband in VA hospital in west Palm and not being taken care of. So she is worried about him. My other daughter flew down there yesterday and took her to the ER in Jupiter, FL last night and that doctor asked them, what do you want us to do for you. You aren't dying, so you might as well go home. They went to her doctor today and he said that he didn't know what to do for you. But pay the XXXXXXX on the way out. Is there a strong cream she can get. I looked up cream and the strongest I can find is 2.5%. I am in Indiana and I would love to help her, but she is so hateful to me, so I stay away. help so.

Brief Answer:
Could b due to autoimmune causes or due to mixed connective tissue disorder

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns for your daughter. I would be glad if you specify her age and how long she has been having the condition. It seems that the condition is due to an autoimmune condition (where the immune system of the body confuses certain parts of the body to be foreign and acts against it). If that is the case, treatment would be immunosuppression. I would like to know the exact problem that occurs on use of prednisolone. However, other immunosuppressants like cyclophosphamide can also be used. The second thing to consider is mixed connective tissue disorder wherein the problem is in collagen or such building blocks of our tissues. In either case, proper investigations need to be done to pinpoint to the cause. I would be glad if you could request her for the medical notes and investigations that have already been done and I would guide you accordingly.

A strong cream will not resolve the condition.

Feel free to write back.

Regards

My Indiana daughter just told me that Florida daughter has blisters all over her body. Just like chicken pox. When they pop, that is when the sores develop. I notice in the fine print that she is to go the nearest physician before acting on what you are saying. That is the problem. Her doctor says, "It is not life threating". How do I get her medical information to you? Help please.

Brief Answer:
Uploading documents is easy

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Could you please mention for how long those lesions have been present? Furthermore, could you request your daughter (affected) to cooperate with you and provide the investigation details? In case you can procure the details, you can upload the attachments using the facility on the upper right of this page. Alternatively you can email the attachments to YYYY@YYYY with the query id 375747 and my name mentioned in the subject.

I would await your response.

Regards

I will see if they will email papers to me so I can forward them to you. Hopefully they will be able to leave Florida for Indiana tomorrow, grandson is getting married this week-end. Can this discussion be left open for a week cause I don't know when I will see or talk to her about this matter. She is so miserable with this problem. Thank you so much. XXXXXXX

good morning
I sent you the list of all of her meds. I can't believe all of the meds she is on. Also all of her blood work from 2 nights ago were negative except she was a little dehydrated. My Indiana daughter and verified it that everything was negative. I think now she is taking too much of the same thing. Could that be possible? All this started about 2 years ago. Thanks for your help.

Brief Answer:
Some overlap is there in the medicine list

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. There is overlap in the medicines and some of the medicines can be cut down. For example Prilosec and omeprazole are the spame thing and they serve the sapme purpose as ranitidine. So taking one among these should suffice.

Ask her to follow the discharge advice. It is reasonable.

The query can be reopened after any length of time.
