Continue giving paracetamol, observe for danger signs
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for asking on Ask A Doctor platfkrm
I have gone through the query and do understand your concern.
Fever in this age can be initial manifestation of viral respiratory or intestinal infection or bacterial infection.
Viral infections are comparitively common and improves with Conservative treatment like paracetamol, well hydration etc. Fever may persist for two to three days with ups and down trend.
I would suggest you to monitor the temperature and continue giving paracetamol in the prescribed dose if fever is there. Observe for abnormal symptoms like excessive irritability, poor feeding, letharginess, any breathing difficulty, cough vomiting or loose motion.
I won't get overly worried if these symptoms are not there, baby is active, taking feeds well and fever is responding well to paracetamol.
If you find any of these abnormal symptoms or fever is of very high grade, not responding to paracetamol or persisting for more than 72 hours please consult your pediatrician.
Give plenty of fluids to maintain hydration and observe of urine output.
I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any more questions.
Wishing for your baby's good health.
Regards
