Question: My daughter is 46, happily married, one 8 year old daughter. She works as a benefits coordinator for a large power company here in our home town. She’s started to suffer from anxiety as her job is so high pressure & they have split the Human Resources Department moving most of the employees from small town, XXXXXXX OK to XXXXXXX OK leaving 2 employees so she has not enough help, leaving her to deal with her phone & computer blowing up with e-mail, texts & phone calls making it impossible to get her work done. She is having extreme problems getting deep breaths. She has experienced this a little in the past but says the last month it is really bad. I have had it happen a few times so I know what she is talking about, you try to yawn but u still can’t get that much needed deep breath. I feel it is anxiety & pressure. Could u please help us? I am very concerned.

Brief Answer:
Severe anxiety lr adjustment disorder.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have gone through your description and I can understand your concerns.
The symptoms you have described suggestive of severe anxiety or adjustment disorder arising mainly out of workplace stress.
She has to consult a psychiatrist and get evlaluated.
As the illness is on the initial stages she can be well managed without complications. Most of the symptoms can be managed by counselling and motivation. If symptoms are severe she might require low dose anti anxiety drugs like clonazepam.
She can try relaxation techniques like yoga and meditation for symptomatic relief.
You can talk to her employer and make necessary arrangements to make her feel better,
Wishing all the best.
Thanks
