My Daughter Is 7 Years Old And Has A History

Question: My daughter is 7 years old and has a history of eczema and allergies. She took a bubble bath twice this week and now is itching on the vaginal area. It could have been contact dermatitis or soap vulvitis, I'm thinking. Hydrocortisone 1% makes it burn. I have been using baking soda bath and it helps but does not get rid of it. Should I give her children's Zyrtec or Benadryl to help with the itch and resolve it?

Brief Answer:
Kindly give few more details

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
Welcome to Ask A Doctor service
I have gone through your query and understand your concern
This can either be a contact dermatitis as you suspected, or a vaginal candidiasis.

For having a better idea, I would like to clarify few things:

1)Where exactly is the itching- outside over vulval area or inside vagina?
2)Any changes over vulval skin(redness, rash or pimples) or inside vagina(extreme redness or any discharge coming out)?
3)Any history of worm itching?

Kindly get back with details, so that I can guide you better
Meanwhile you can give her Benadryl to relieve itching
Regards, Dr Aslam
