My Endocrinologist Has Increased My Medication But The Pulsing Is Still Here And Making Me Very Anxious. Do You Have Any Advice?

Question: I have been having pulsating in my ears with my heartbeat. I have experienced a lot of anxiety - mainly over this - and I am hyperthyroid right now. My endocrinologist has increased my medication but the pulsing is still here and making me very anxious. Do you have any advice?

I think that the main cause of the pulsating tinnitus you are having may be hyperactive thyroid causing a rapid heart beat.
You may need to take beta-blockers such atenolol to bring it back to normal.
Also anxiety may cause rapid heart beat. Managing anxiety may relieve tinnitus.
Also wax removal may help to reduce the it.

I take Flecainide for heart palpitations - so that’s probably why my dr wouldn’t put me on beta blockers - but I will talk to him about that. I take methimazole 5mg a day for my hyperthyroidism. I’m hoping my thyroid will regulate soon and the pulsate tinnitus will fade. I think anxiety could be contributing to it also - but when it happens it just upsets me and I get very anxious. I will try to calm my mind and reassure myself that it is nothing serious and should be better when my thyroid is regulated. I appreciate your assistance.

Hello dear and thank you for writing again.
I think that you may to increase flecainide dosage since it is an antiarythmic drug and also see how the methimazole will work and can increase it's dosage too.
Of course anxiety may make tinnitus worse so you need to keep it under control.
Also clean ears from wax.
