My Father Age 59 Is Having Fever From Last 3
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Depends on other symptoms
Detailed Answer:
Hello, I'm Dr. Branch, thanks for using 'Ask a Doctor'. From what I understand, dolo 650 is mostly paracetamol, which would be recommended to bring down the fever. As for what other medications should he be taking, it depends on what other symptoms he is having. Does he have a cough or nasal congestion? Any shortness of breath? Any pain anywhere in the body? Viral illnesses are the most common causes of an acute fever like this, in which case antibiotics would not be needed, but if he has symptoms suggestive of a bacterial infection, antibiotics would be recommended, the specific antibiotic depending on where the infection is.
I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any other questions about that, and I would be glad to discuss it with you further.

Does not sound like a bacterial infection
Detailed Answer:
If he is not having any symptoms, and just the fever, as long as he is otherwise feeling ok and is able to still eat and drink, a bacterial infection would be unlikely. I would just continue to use the paracetamol or Ibuprofen for the fever. If the fever lasts for 5 days or more, or he begins to feel very ill, a blood test to try to figure out the cause would be recommended. If this is a viral illness, which most likely it is, the fever should stop within 3-4 days, and then gradually improve over the next 1-2 weeks.
Please let me know if you have any other questions, I'd be glad to help any way I can.
