My Friend Had A Pacemaker Put In 12 Days Ago.

Question: My friend had a pacemaker put in 12 days ago. They partially ablated his sinus node.

But now he is in atrial fibrillation, has a cardiac efficiency of 25% and has 1,700 pvcs per day. He can only walk 50 ft.

He has an appointment with a cardiologist in two or three days.

HOW URGENT IS THIS?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Pacemaker needs calibration

Detailed Answer:
Hello

After going through the medical details provided by you I can understand your concern and I would like to tell you that his pacemaker needs calibration so as to avoid the occurrence of vpc’s. At the time of discharge from the hospital your friend must have received a pacemaker card from which you can call the pacemaker company to send a technician for evaluation.

Regarding the urgency, until unless he doesn’t have any symptoms like giddiness, sense of fainting of chest unease there is nothing to Hurry for but yes it’s better to get evaluated as soon possible.

If you could upload his pacemaker details report along with hospital discharge summary that would be helpful for a more precise advice.

Kind Regards
