Question: My friend has painful periods. Her breasts get tension only when she has her period. Her therapist prescribed her mastodynon that contains active substances of vital Agnus cactus, caulophyllum thalictroides) D4, Cyclamen europium (Cyclamen) D4, Strychnos igpatii (Ignatia) D6, Iris versicolor (iris) D2, Lilium lancifolium (ilium tigrinum) D3. Also, therapist prescribed her progesterone micronized 1.0g ointment. Can she use it if she has painful period?

What is your friend's age? since when is she having painful periods? Does the pain start before periods?
From your notes it appears that she has premenstrual symdrome.
Mastodynon is a homeopathic treatment. I have no knowledge about it. Don't use progesterone ointment.
Take oral contraceptive pills containing Drospirinone provided she has no conraindications to its use. It inhibits ovulation and that should relieve her pain.
She should reduce intake of coffee, salty and spicy foods.

She is 30 years old. It started when she was 16 years old. She has pain every time she has her period that sometimes she feels nausea and have hot flashes also migraine. Does she have premenstrual syndrome? She was prescribed progesterone ointment for her breasts so she would be less tensioned. What is Drospirinone for? How can it help her with her painful periods?

Welcome back.
She probably has premenstrual syndrome ( PMS). Progesterone secretion after ovulation is thought to be the main reason for PMS. So one of the treatments is to suppress ovulation. Drospirinone is a synthetic progesterone compound. Unlike other synthetic progesterone compounds like levenorgestrel it does not cause water retention in the body which is one of the reasons for breast pain. So i advise that oral contraceptive pills containing Drospirinone to be used. Progesterone cream should not be used.
Please ask your friend to keep a calender where she charts date wise the symptoms she suffers. Let her do this for 2 months and show it to gynecologist. That helps in making accurate diagnosis.
