My Gastrolenterologist Recently Ordered A Battery Of Blood And Stool
Question: My gastrolenterologist recently ordered a battery of blood and stool tests to address my lifelong IBS and digestive issues. All results came back normal except my Live Enzyme ALT (sgpt) was elevated to 43 (from a lab with a reference range of 0 - 32). My doctor ordered follow-up bloodwork to be performed in 2 to 3 weeks (checking for ferritin, hepatitis, etc.), and since I was worried she also ordered an Abdominal CT. I scheduled the test, but the first available appointment was several days away, and I am FREAKING OUT at the idea of possible liver cancer.
I am a 48 year old female. No history of smoking. Never drunk alcohol. I have had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, IBS, Fibromyalgia, and Migraines. My diet is very limited (due to multiple food intolerances), but low fat, no sugar, nothing artificial, etc.. No family history of liver disease. Monogamous relationship for 24 years.
10 days before I had the initial blood test done, I had suffered a severe migraine and took three days worth of continuous doses of Tylenol. My doctor doesn't think "a few doses" of Tylenol should affect the liver enzymes, but three days worth seems like more than a few doses and some of what I've seen online indicates it's possible the Tylenol could affect my liver enzymes and take as many as 11 days for the levels to return to normal. (I've been worried about the need for Tylenol for my migraines for a long time and its potential for liver damage).
Obviously, I will be going forward with the ultrasound and the additional bloodwork as ordered, but I'm basically asking you just HOW WORRIED I should be about the possibility of liver cancer??? Any advice would be much appreciated, I feel like my life has ground to a halt.

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry about liver cancer
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
These reports are all normal except a borderline high SGPT. It doesn't raise any flags for cancer or serious disease.
Many a times all workup for this will be negative. Sometimes fatty liver is found. But I don't think any serious illness will be found.
Overall, I see no cause for worry here.
Hope this helps.
Regards
